Visitors explore beliefs and practices through renowned art collections, including ancient Egyptian, ancient Greek and Roman, medieval Christian, Islamic, Asian, and American Indian. Pitcairn’s collection of medieval stained glass and sculpture is considered to be one of the country's finest.
    We will have special tours for the AGO members and friends at 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM. The special entrance fee is $6.00 per person.

1:00 or 1:30 pm   Private 1 hour tours of Glencairn Museum of Sacred Art (pre-registration required) additional information below.

3:30 pm Presentation on Music at Bryn Athyn, about the new Chara Aurora Cooper Haas Organ, and the history of the Cathedral and surrounding buildings, as well as some of the practices of the congregation and some of the distinguishing facets of their beliefs.

4:30 pm afternoon coffee/socialization

5:00 pm Vespers (Since, they do not do concerts, this service will especially highlight music by their choirs and the new organ)

MUSEUM DETAILS


Glencairn, built between 1928 and 1939, was the home of the Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn family for forty years. Today Glencairn serves as a museum of religious art and history. Visitors explore beliefs and practices through renowned art collections, including ancient Egyptian, ancient Greek and Roman, medieval Christian, Islamic, Asian, and American Indian. Pitcairn’s collection of medieval stained glass and sculpture is considered to be one of the country's finest.

The 90-minute guided Highlights of Glencairn tour includes a 15-minute award-winning orientation video and an elevator ride to the Tower, with its commanding view of ­the local area including the Bryn Athyn Cathedral and the Philadelphia skyline (be sure to bring your camera). The tour includes visits to Glencairn's stunning Great Hall, the family Chapel, and the Master Bedroom/Bath. An introduction to the Museum's renowned collection of ancient and medieval art Includes the Egyptian Gallery, Roman Gallery and Medieval Treasury. Photography is welcome (no tripods or flash).
 
Glencairn Museum is a National Historic Landmark. Because of the museum’s status as a historic home, Glencairn has limited accessibility for visitors with mobility impairments. Large bags, strollers and backpack-style baby carriers are not permitted beyond the front entrance. For more information, please call 267.502.2990 in advance of your visit.


We will have special 1 hour guided tours for the AGO members and friends at 1:00 PM or 1:30 PM. The special entrance fee is $6.00 per person.  Following the 1 hour tour you will have time to explore the museum or cathedral grounds on your own before the 3:30 presentation in the Cathedral.
You may visit the first floor of the museum on your own without an entrance fee or tour reservation.
