The Friends of the Wanamaker Organ and Macy's are excited for us to join them this

SATURDAY, JUNE 4, 2022 for WANAMAKER ORGAN DAY

for a day of music and fellowship honoring one of the great instruments and those who maintain it. Please register to join other AGO members for a boxed LUNCH & BUFFET DINNER ($20 all inclusive). Also indicate if you would like to be part of a PRIVATE GUIDED TOUR of the Organ Shop, Console, and String /Orchestral divisions after the 9 am presentation. Please register by end of day tomorrow, Friday, June 3. When you arrive, please enter via the Juniper St entrance (nearest City Hall) and look for Doug Backman.

Please note that the 8:30 pm concert is a separate ticketed event. AGO Members can purchase tickets and select the "member" discount rate of $40 on the Friends of the Wanamaker Organ website via this TICKET LINK.

SCHEDULE

9 am - The Wanamaker Organ Yearbook documentary, in Greek Hall. It includes fascinating segments on the Organ Case and Eagle restoration, plus lots of behind-the-scenes restoration project footage, and a feature on Macy’s and Philadelphia during the lockdown. Complimentary light refreshments are served.

11 am - Grand Opening Concert featuring assistant organists Emily Amos, Mark Bani, Jeremy Flood, Rudy Lucente, Aaron Patterson and Dylan David Shaw.

Boxed Lunch at Macy's Greek Hall

2 pm - Nathan Avakian makes a not-to-be-missed musical presentation at our Wurlitzer in Greek Hall. A nominal admission is charged at the door.

5 pm - free Platinum Jubilee salute to Queen Elizabeth II featuring a massed choir, tympani and brass ensemble. Buffet dinner to follow.

8:30 pm - Evening Concert - Peter Richard Conte and special guest Dorothy Papadakos, who came to international attention as the first woman to be Cathedral Organist of the world's largest gothic cathedral, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC from 1990-2003. She is celebrated for her daring & imaginative improvisations and scores for theatre, film, TV & ballet.
